Science is the collection of information, application of models to that information, and deduction of patterns from that collection. We then use these models to engineer products that evolve how we move as humans. How we interact, the physical actions we take every day, and how we think.
The current wave of AI is making this pattern processing much more accessible, which then pushes the demand for data collection- meaning what new data can you collect, meaning model, then create products off of?
Biotech is one of these frontiers, which virtually limitless data collection opportunity. It remains one of the most expensive frontiers to collect data from. There is also the emotional tax that we as engineers have to pay until the vocabulary around people’s body’s becomes more objective.
This means there will have to be a shift in how we communicate these products to consumers, as we must educate, wait for them to realize on their own, opt-in, then consume. Which is fine, this is the normal pattern of new technologies. It just requires more patience and a longer time horizon for one’s return on invested time and capital.
